Ten Things of Thankful #14

This really should have been post #16, but I’ve missed the last couple of weeks – due mainly to sleeping through most of them – not fun – and I seem to keep missing days, then wondering what time it is as I wake up in the dark, then fall back asleep in the dark. I don’t know whether to blame the ME or the Lupus for this, but I guess it doesn’t matter what causes it 😦

So, my very first TToT is that I’m thankful I’m awake enough right now to contribute to this weeks hop! πŸ™‚

My 2nd TToT is the fact that my Mum & Dad, along with my brother, are coming here to Wales on the 24th for a short visit! I haven’t seen Mum & Dad face-to-face since 2007, so it’s going to be a bit of an emotional time, no doubt. Although we talk regularly on the phone, and occasionally wave to each other on Skype (when there’s someone to set it up on Mum’s side) it’s just not the same as being able to hug them physically again πŸ™‚

My 3rd TToT is that my brother got his 4 x 4 back, so he’ll be able to get around with our parents, despite the snow being forecast for their visit!

My 4th TToT, is that I’m thankful for feeling slightly more alive, and just in time to rustle up some gifts for my parents to take back home with them. Not being able to stay awake long enough to even do some crochet has been bugging me badly, and it’s been a delight to be able to get back into creative mode! πŸ™‚

My 5th TToT, is for the care and love my hubby has been giving me throughout my latest health downturn, especially as he’s still recovering from his last bout of pleurisy, so isn’t 100% himself – he’s such a caring man, and I thank God every day for him πŸ™‚

My 6th TToT, is that, once again, I’m grateful for my laptop, as I’ve been able to keep in touch with my daughter as she travels around with her work – I’ve mentioned it before, I know, but I can never be less than thankful for such a modern convenience πŸ™‚

My 7th TToT runs on from #6, as I’ll be graced with another short visit from my girl at the beginning of December – too late for her to visit with her grandparents, unfortunately, but a sweet thing for me, even though it’ll be a flying visit – I adore my girl, and am grateful for any time she can spare away from her work πŸ™‚

My 8th TToT, is for the care and attention my buddy, Helen, has taken, in keeping me spiritually uplifted. This amazing lady goes out of her way to make sure I’m able to keep up with what’s happening with my spiritual family, and she was able to reassure me that they are all okay, and are keeping each other strong after our loss a few weeks back πŸ™‚

My 9th TToT is for the gratitude I feel for our lovely pets – dear old Fred Barker who, at 19, is totally deaf, and his eyesight isn’t great but, despite chronic arthritis, still bounces around like a puppy whenever I’m well enough to pay attention to him – he’s such a little gentleman – and eats enough for 2 still! My lovely Kushka has barely left my side this last few weeks, and hubby says she kept purring up a storm as she cwtched up to me, whenever my pain was too bad to bear – I do love my furry friends for their devotion to us both πŸ™‚Β

My 10th TToT, is for all of my internet friends who cared enough for me in my absence to enquire if I was okay! πŸ™‚

  1. Note: Tried leaving this comment earlier in the week, but had some complications being told to sign in or something. Then attempted to find the link to this on your G+ profile to comment there, but everything there was outdated by a month. So I think I’ve just found you’ve made a new blog site? So I will log into whatever, though it kind of creeps me out! haha :End Note

I’m really glad you were able to participate this week (last weekend >.>) in the TToT! I’ve also missed a bit, and played catch up, but my reasonings aren’t as dire as yours. I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling up to par and you’ve been dealing with bouts of constant fatigue.

I am glad, however, that you were up in spirits (thanks to friends/family) and was very appreciative you stopped by over the weekend.

Many thanks have been going out to friends/fam/pets this past week or two. Maybe it’s the holidays? πŸ™‚

It’s great you are going to finally see your parents face to face again. That is such a long time. I’m sure it will be very emotional! Keep us updated!

Unfortunately I got a phone call this morning, telling me my mum was in intensive care with pneumonia!
Thankfully she’s now past the danger stage, and is reacting well to the meds, but it obviously means that they aren’t here as expected – not my best weekend, I have to say 😦
I’m hoping for better news as the week progresses, but I’m definitely not in the mood for writing a TToT this weekend – unless all 10 of them say the same thing – I’m thankful my mum has survived!

      • So sorry to hear about your mother. I am, however, glad she is out of that danger zone. Did it just come on suddenly? It doesn’t exactly matter, just that she fully recovers and quickly.

Definitely not the best weekend for sure, and I understand the lack of energy to post a TToT. I think listing that statement of Thankfulness 10 times would be a good thing personally.

I really hope everything gets a lot better and you receive more good news about your mother’s recovery as the week goes on. *hug*

Mum is now on a nebuliser, as her breathing has got very bad, but we are all hopeful that she will start to improve soon πŸ™‚

  2. I love your list, Katy! I am so glad you are feeling a bit better and up to posting. How wonderful that you are going to get to see and hug and sit with your parents!! I am so excited for you! I imagine it will be emotional on both sides! And that you will be getting an in-person visit with your girl soon too! Yay!

What a sweet husband you have! I am glad that he takes such good care of you! Those furry babies sure are some good comfort too! I pray you continue to feel well enough to enjoy the time with your parents and daughter!

I’ll be making sure that every second counts with all their visits, as they are such fleeting ones really – but I’d rather fleeting, than none at all!
Now all I have to worry about is whether the snow and ice, predicted for the end of the week, isn’t so bad that my bro’s 4 x 4 can’t cope with it! :/

  3. Hey you re-vamped your site since I’ve been here! Nice! I likey!

Glad you are feeling better for the moment –it sure is the pits to not feel well. My mom has fibromyalgia and had a low-immune system. She is tired a lot and feels ‘oogy’ a lot too. 😦 Makes me sad.

Oh, hey, I nominated you for the LIebster Award. I know you have already been nominated, and you in turn nominated me a long while ago. But… I was a big, fat lame-o and my answers to your 11 questions sit in my drafts because I have procrastinated too long! Anyway, wanted to let you know …check out my most recent post “This One Goes Up To 11”

    • Thanks Kari – glad you likey! πŸ™‚

{{{hugs}}} for your mum, as I, too, suffer with Fibro, so I know what she’s going through 😦

The low immune system is a real pig, as I catch every virus going around, which then affects my health even more – a vicious circle! 😦

Awww, thanks for nominating me, Hun – though it might be a while before I can get around to doing anything with it, as I’m up to my ears in crochet projects that need finishing like yesterday – but thanks anyway, and I promise to do something with it as soon as possible πŸ™‚

I’ll be checking out your post as soon as I’ve finished checking my emails – I promise! πŸ™‚

  4. I’m so glad you’re feeling better, Katy! Aren’t kitties wonderful for knowing when you need them to curl up next to you and comfort you with their purrs?

Where do your parents live? I know you’re in Wales. And snow? They’re forecasting SNOW? Too early! Too early! (Do you get a lot of snow there in the winter? Is it normal to get it this early in the year?) Enjoy the visit! I hope you’ll be able to slip in a TToT about them being there!

And Brex gets to come visit, too? I know you’re so happy!

    Have a glorious week, Katy!

    • Thanks Dyanne – yes, Kushka always seems to know when she’s needed πŸ™‚

My parents live almost opposite us, in East Anglia, along with almost all of the rest of my family and, as I’m housebound, I don’t get to see them a fraction of the times I’d love to, which is why I’m just so excited about this visit πŸ™‚

As for snow, as we live only 1/2 mile from the sea, it doesn’t settle often here but, occasionally, it does overwhelm the salty sea air here, and we get a real downfall – which is what has been predicted for next week 😦
      It’s certainly getting cold enough!

Thanks for the lovely wishes, Dyanne – I’ll defo be writing about our visits

  5. Katy I’m so pleased that you’re feeling a bit better, and are up to posting this week. I have missed you (though I doubt I’ve been any good at enquiring after you – it’s not my strong point, sorry :/ ) SO glad to hear that you have your wonderful friends around you, and your dear husband looking after you.

I hope your visits with your parents (how wonderful! 2007 is SUCH a long time ago) and your daughter are beautiful times of pure joy and love and sharing.

Sending you prayers and wishes for best health.

(and also, this because you like owls and it’s hilarious, if not very relevant – http://www.buzzfeed.com/samjparker/the-9-types-of-hangover-weve-all-had)

I’m very much looking forward to my family’s visits – and am busily crocheting little gifts for them as I write this (well, not actually as I write, but you know what I mean! Lol)

I never say no to the offer of prayers, as every one helps πŸ™‚

I looooooove the Owls! Lol πŸ™‚

  7. good to have you back on the TToT Beat! It’s nice to have a small pocket of …maybe not reliability or consistency, as the people who frequent these pages take a week off and new people join us, but Lizzi and the core group are always here…

(Christine might laugh as what seems to be my slightly *different* priorities when it comes to family members… but 19??! wow that’s amazing to have a dog and happy and comfortable (as he sounds) you are very fortunate!)

Hope you feel better as the coming busy ‘guest season’ seems to be upon you lol

How lovely that you have family coming over! Glad that you got the gifts ready, even though I bet the best gift will be the time spent together.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. Hope you are better and better each day.

Pets are wonderful, aren’t they? No matter what their issues or how much trouble they may cause, they are great to have around.

Love your owls – my daughter will too. She loves them.

    • Thanks Lisa πŸ™‚

I’ve always loved owls – since well before Harry Potter got them popular – and am surrounded by them in a variety of forms πŸ™‚

As for Fred and Kushka, I couldn’t do without them, I do admit πŸ™‚

  10. Katy, it is so nice to have you back with us. I’m sorry you’ve been feeling so bad lately. I pray you get a nice, long reprieve.
How exciting to be seeing your parents after so long. 2007 is a really long time to go without a hug from your mom.
I’m glad you have such wonderful, supportive people in your life to help you both physically and spiritually.

    • Thank you, Christine πŸ™‚
There’s no real reprieve for me, but I make the most of the short periods of lucidness I do get πŸ™‚
And, yes, I can’t wait to give my mum and dad a hug, as it IS a long time since the last one :/
