Sanctioned for applying for more than one job with an agency. Sanctioned because child was ill.

Do read this, as it’s yet another great Post from Charlotte, that tells the truth about the Tory bullyboys at the Job Centers, and the DWP!

The poor side of life

I have just returned from our weekly Thursday demo and to say that it was busy was an understatement. We are helping more people than ever before due to the closure of Stalybridge Jobcentre. I know that I keep mentioning this, but this is the reality of the situation. When a Jobcentre is shut down it puts extreme pressure on the next town that does have a Jobcentre, and of course the Jobcentre itself. It is abhorrent that people are forced to often walk, some everyday to a Jobcentre that is miles away this doesn’t encourage anyone to get a job, it just demoralises them even more and often makes them ill.

This week I have decided to list a few of the situations that the people that are forced to use Ashton Under Lyne Jobcenre are going through. I say a few, because there are too many to write…

Four year demo anniversary, man sanctioned for 96 days, food parcels handed out.

Charlotte, and her hardy group, have been protesting every single week, for the last Four Years, outside Ashton Under Lyne Jobcenter!
I wish someone in authority could explain to me how they think it right – or even okay – to take away the very little, allowed by Law, for a person to live on, in order to punish that person for not trying harder to find a non-existing job?
They call it Sanctions, but I call it abominable!

The poor side of life

Today was the day of our yearly anniversary and we had decided on a theme… Prisoners of the DWP. Claimants are treated by the DWP like criminals and every aspect of their life is effectively controlled by them. If you don’t believe me just ask someone who is a victim of this regime. It’s cruel and horrible and has the ability to destroy a persons life at the push of a button. Hence our demo theme.
I arrived slightly early awaiting the delivery of the pasting table that we were using today, the big flask donated by Ray Woolford when he visited, and also tea, coffee etc.

I arrived early, I was expecting Roy early, but I wasn’t expecting anyone else to be but they proved me wrong, everyone was either early or on time which was amazing. Thank you folks it is appreciated it really is, you guys are…

Amigurumi Animals at Work

Although I’m deep into a time of great creativity, where my crochet is concerned (I’ll tell you about it, once I’m done!), I couldn’t resist re-blogging this post by Moji-Moji Design, as I’ve been waiting what seems an age for this book of crochet designs to be released!
There are some wonderful patterns in the book, but my absolute favourite is from Moji-Moji, as her Squirrel Pattern is the ultimate in amazing design, and a perfect thing for me to make for my hubby (once I’ve finished what I’m doing presently, anyway! Lol).
If you love unusual, and amazing, designs, then do look into this book, as it’s wonderful 🙂

Moji-Moji Design

Hi everyone, I’m really pleased to be able to tell you that the new book from is finally available to order in pre-sale!

From right now until May 31st 2014 you can pre-order a copy of the book and you’ll also get a PDF version which you will be able to download immediately, so no boring waiting to get started on your first Animals at Work cutie!

My contribution to Joke Vermeiren’s  beautifully put together volume is Cyril the Squirrel, whom, as you may remember,  is the head gardener at Knutsford Manor.

This is Cyril with his assistant gardener and close friend, Errol. They made a raised bed for their prize carrot crop, but, goodness, the amount of weeding it needs… That’s where four paws are better than two!

Don’t believe all the bad press about grey squirrels! Errol is just as lovable as his red cousins. And I think he’s just as beautiful too!
